Answer

My answer is a question: why has your doctor provided antibiotics for a viral infection. Antibiotics do not fight viruses.

Answer

I agree, antibiotics do not affect viruses, so the answer is yes, the virus can be passed on to others.

*Many times doctors will prescribe antibiotics to prevent secondary infections. For example, if a child were dx'd with viral pneumonia it is probable antibiotics will be prescribed to prevent a secondary bacterial infections such as bacterial pneumonia.
