i would plead not guilty on the ticket, schedual a court date. hope the officer doesn't show, and if he does. tell the judge that you "plead for leaniancy" and that you realize your mistake

If this is your first offense - just pay the hefty fine and hope that they do not give you points. It is up to the judge - unless you can pay w/o going to court.
