If using muriatic acid do the fumes rise or stay near the ground with out air movement?

[Edit]

Answer

heavier than air, but the oxidation reaction is highly exothermic, and the heat generated causes gasses to rise, so muriatic acid co-oxidant gasses will fill the surrounding space.

Answer

fumes from muriatic acid will attack steel - I found this out the hard way as some of my tools started to corrode immediately when I used it to remove rust on some old wood planes. It worked well for its intended purpose but be careful of this bad side effect. Use this stuff out in the chicken coop, not your shop.
