If an Irish soda bread recipe is asking for Crisco can you use oil or butter instead?

Answer

You can use butter instead. Don't use the oil.

Answer

You really won't get the same texture from substituting butter for Crisco. And oil - don't even try it! You'd actually be better off searching for an Irish Soda Bread recipe that doesn't include Crisco.
