How much gravel can a dump truck hold? In: Lawns and Grass, Gardening |
[Edit] |
The size of the dump box (example if it can hold 10 cubic yards) and the legal loading limit for the roads / area and number of axles the truck has will determine the load it can carry. But let's say it can hold 10 cubic yards for this example. Gravel weighs approx 1.35 tons per cubic yard. So a 10 cy load would weigh 10 x 1.35 tons = 13.5 tons of gravel.
An average tandem truck can carry @13 tons legally, the largest straight dump truck, a Strong super dump, can carry @26 tons with 7 axles including a Strong arm! This will be around the same for sand too.
