Western Governors University is relatively new being founded in 1997. Thus, the school does not have much of a history yet. It is strictly an online university. The good news is that the institution has a regional accreditation, so other colleges and universities as well as employers will recognize the school as a bona fide university and their degree programs as valid. When you look at any college or university, make sure it has a regional accreditation. This university does.
