How do you stop a drunk from driving? |

Answer
Whether in the U.S., Canada or anywhere else if you know of someone that is driving drunk then it's your duty to phone the police, give the license # of the vehicle that person is driving and let them take their lumps. If you don't and they end up killing themselves, or worse yet killing an innocent person (possibly even a child) then you are classified as an enabler.
In British Columbia, Canada about two years ago legislations was thinking of the Host or Hostess being responsible for their guests driving home drunk. Obviously this law sunk to the bottom and thank heavens it did. If I feel one of my guests has had too much to drink I suggest they stay over-night; I try to get the keys from them or offer to call them a cab (at my expense!) More than not drunks feel they can drive and refuse all offers. If this is the case I'd turn that person in! Call me a rat, whatever, but I don't want to be part of this person killing themselves or anyone else. I've thankfully only had to do it once. My name was not given out so this person still doesn't know who did it.
Drunks feel that they are in control of themselves and you will NEVER convince them otherwise. They are a disaster waiting to happen. If anything, don't just think of the idiot driving drunk, but the many people out there this person could kill.
If you are with this drunk person, then give him/her more drinks to consume. Give him more to make sure that the person black outs or falls asleep. It would be easier to get him into a cab or a taxi and prevent him from driving. That could avoid being caught DUI and causing an accident.
