How do you replace the heater blower motor in a 1984 VW convertible with AC?

I am looking for the same answer. So far I have been told (and the Bentley book depicts) that you remove the black plastic cover found at the base of the windshield in the engine compartment. It has a tar like substance covering the screws. I found mine, but the screws do not back out. I'm still working on a plan. Good luck.
