How do you locate a vehicle with a 13 digit VIN? |
[Edit] |
[Edit]
The actual location of the VIN Plate can vary for different manufacturers. However there are a number of favoured locations;
a) the Upper Front Crossmember or Crossbeam, in front or the radiator.
b) the rear Bulkhead or Firewall in the engine bay of the vehicle.
c) the 'A' post, usually on the drivers side. (Popular with Volvo's)
d) the Inner Sill or Seat Mounting Crossbeam. (VW's)
e) the Longitudinal Beam inside the Trunk, adjacent to the Fuel Tank. (Volvo Estates or Station Wagons)
f) many newer vehicles, also have a plate visible through the Windscreen or Windshield. This enables patrolling Police officers to verify the vehicle's identity (that the License Plates are the correct ones for that vehicle).
