How do you link two PC's? |
[Edit] |
METHOD 1: CONNECT THROUGH NETWORK CABLE.
The disadvantage of this method is you cannot connect to internet through cable port. However, it is not required any installation. You need to have a computer network cable and follow these six steps:
_Step 1: Connect your two computers, using that cable.
_Step 2: Use the computer that has files you want to share. Go to "My Computer".
_Step 3: Right click to the hard drive (or any folder, file) that you want to share. Click "Sharing and Security" (See Image 1).
_Step 4: In the "Sharing" Tab, click the link "If you understand the security risk..." (See Image 2).
_Step 5: When the new window appears, mark "Share this folder on the network". Mark "Allow network user to change my files" if you want to use the other computer to change your files in your shared computer (See Image 3).
_Step 6: Click "Apply" or "OK".
When you come back to "My Computer", you will find the symbol of a hand holding your shared files. In the other computer, click "Start" --> "My Network Place" to access the shared files.
METHOD 2: CONNECT THROUGH USB DATA LINK CABLE (See Image 4).
You need to have USB data link cable with driver CD (costs about $10). You can easily connect two computers USB port using this cable and instantly transfer files at great speed.
When you connect your two computers by USB data link cable, they will detect each other as new hardware "USB 2.0 Data Link". The "Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear automatically.
In the wizard, mark "No, not this time" and click "Next".
Mark "install from a list..." and click "Next".
Put the driver CD into CD tray and click "Search the best driver..." and mark "Include this location in the search". Click "Browse" and find sub-folder "VirtualNetwork" inside folder "USB 2.0 Network Cable" in the CD. Click "OK" and "Next". (See Image 5)
"Hardware Installation" wizard will appear. Click "Continue Anyway" to complete your installation. Click "Finish" and wait for a few seconds for the two computers realize each other.
Repeat step 2 to the end of method 1.
