How do you distinguish between love and lust?

In: Dating
[Edit]

Answer

Love lasts.

Answer

Love is caring about the person. Where they are, what they're doing, hoping they're okay.

Lust is using a partner for sexual stimulation, but think that's what love is. It's not.

Answer

Lust is what you feel when you intially see and become attracted to a person. It's partly a biological stimulation, a release of chemicals that affects your sensitivity and causes physical arousal. Humans (and all mammals and insects) release different kinds of pheromones, chemicals that can affect a reproduction response in others of the same species. Part of it is a mental way of sorting out the arousal the the chemical rush via fantasies, daydreams. Lust tends to thrive on "newness" and is prominent early on in a relationship, which is why people fool themselves into believing such myths as "love at first sight" or perceive they have can love or understand someone they've only known a few weeks or months.

Love is defined differently by people; people tend to love in various ways and don't love with the same intensity. True love is a rigid ideal; love tends to change, grow or decrease with time. Relationship love is a bond that is formed after a long term knowledge, acceptance, and respect of a person for who they are, a sincere concern for their welfare. You still feel a sexual attraction to the person, but you are not overwhelmed by this everytime you are in their presence, there is a big aspect of friendship in long term love, rather than any stuff about "soulmates"

Answer

Love is when you truly care about someone, and lust is when you just want sex, lots of it, and in every position.

Answer

Lust:

  • "Daymnn he/she's fineee, gotta tap that" AKA physical attraction
  • Don't know person's personality, interests, etc very well
  • Doesn't think of person that much
  • Can't really see, or tell if you'd like to spend your life with that person...neither is that really a concern
  • Goes away faster than love

Love:

  • Absolute trust and security in relationship.
  • Accept and respect their personality, interests, lifestyle, opinions, and whatever. You feel like you can live with their qualities, good and bad.
  • It's unconditional. You care about their happiness above your own feelings
  • You can't imagine yourself without them. It's hard to remember what things were like before you met them.
