How do fireworks work? |
[Edit] |
Answer
This is a very broad question, but basically there's a fuse that is connected to a specific amount and arrangment of pyrotechnic compositions for the specific firework. These are mixtures of a fuel, like charcoal, an oxidiser, like pottasium nitrate, and various others to provide colours, sparks and other effects these burn rapidly, creating the effect. The exact combination would vary from depending on if it needs to just be loud or if it needs to rise and explode in the sky. There are many books on the subject, and www.pyroguide.com has lots more information on the subject, including specific devices and effects. Don't try it at home!
