Here in Kansas...

My office is closed on the 4th, but we are open MT/RF. We're kind of stingy with paid vacations around here, though.

It's a Federally recognized holiday, so I think it's accepted and expected that the 4th is a day-off day. Unless you work in something like fast food, retail, or real estate. Then all bets are off.
