I think language expresses the culture of a people. Some words only exist in one language, and express some thought or reflect a certain idea that is unique to that people. I think that is what is sad about about disappearing languages because the collective experience of a culture is lost when their language ceases to be spoken. On the other hand words are adopted from one culture to another such as the words pig and swine are the same thing but they have a difference nuance that comes from the language they were borrowed from.
